The Grapevine Garden Club
strives to support the goals and projects of the national, regional and
state garden clubs. The Club is a member of District II and the Garden
Club Council of Fort Worth. |
National Garden Clubs, Inc. |
The
National Garden
Clubs, Inc. is a non-profit educational organization with
its headquarters in St. Louis, MO. It is composed of 50 state garden
clubs, 7,183 member garden clubs, 221,943 members and recognizes 447
international affiliate clubs. NGC provides education,
resources and national networking opportunities for its members to
promote the love of gardening, floral design, civic and
environmental responsibility.
Barbara D. May is NGC President. Her theme is "Nurture the
Earth--Plant Natives". Educating our members and the
public in areas such as native plants and trees, nurturing the
earth, water conservation and creating friendly habitats for
wildlife are just a few topics that are important to Garden Club
members. Our commitment to the community to help with
gardening needs and landscaping with native plants is a high
priority.
The Grapevine Garden Club is
applying for The Principal Financial Group Civic Development Grant Grogram
"Let's Go Native" to help fund the new native plant garden surrounding the
Ed and Edith Pewitt
Education Center at the Grapevine Garden Club Botanical Gardens.

South Central
Region |
The
South Central Region is the regional affiliate of
the National Garden Clubs, Inc. This region is composed of four states; Arkansas,
New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Linda
Whetsell is the South Central Region Director.
Her theme is "Going Wild With Natives." In support of
Linda's theme, native plants grown in member gardens will be offered
for sale at the club's Annual
Plant Sale in April.

Texas Garden Clubs, Inc. |
The
Texas
Garden Clubs, Inc.
promotes the love of gardening across the state. President,
Judy Keillor's theme is "Living the Challenge--Let's Get
Growing". She challenges clubs to increase membership, plant
pocket gardens and to conserve water. Grapevine Garden Club members
continue to bring friends and family to club meetings and drop-in
guests are always welcome. Since 2006 membership has increased
from 119 to 145! We are growing friends, good times, hard
work, purposeful activity, community outreach and great programs.

District II |
Marty Swindell is Director of District
II. Her theme is "Our Future Through Membership and Youth"
and her project is Shoebox Gardens. In support of Marty's
project, the Grapevine Garden Club will collect and distribute
garden supplies donated by members to the Junior Master Gardener
program at Morningside Elementary School in Fort Worth.

President Barbara Baker is President of the Garden Club Council of
Fort Worth. Her theme is "Networking With OTHERS."
In support of Barbara's
Victory Box project, the Grapevine Garden Club will collect
supplies for US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
