President's Message
The Grapevine Garden Club is known throughout the community for its creativity, resourcefulness, and irrepressible energy, as well as for its educational, cultural, and civic achievements. No matter what each activity requires, our members dig deep to offer unexcelled expertise and support in order to produce exemplary results. Our monthly programs offer stimulating, instructional, and significant topics for our many members and guests who are passionately involved in all types of gardening. We are a garden club that warmly welcomes all to come and join to be a part of our gardening community.
We continue our commitment to civic efforts with programs such as the rewarding Texas Street Project, the delightful Butterfly Flutterby, the annual Christmas luncheon with GRACE contributions, and the community-enhancing 3rd Grade Redbud Project. We show our members’ best from our gardens in Flowercade, and enjoy friendships concluding with the end-of-season spring luncheon. These programs encourage membership involvement and give us a chance to promote interest in flowers, gardens, and horticulture within the community.
Our club members support the docent program offered by the Botanical Gardens at Grapevine’s Heritage Park. Trained docents give guided tours for those groups interested in the Gardens and also assist with educational programs that introduce a variety of garden topics to young children. We have expanded our civic projects with monetary or in-kind donations to worthy local groups with our Civic Seed Money Project.
Our annual plant sale enables our garden club to offer nursery and heritage plants to the public as well as information on landscaping, yard and plant maintenance, and plants native to this area. Because of plant sale success, we have been able to expand our financial aid program, which awards scholarships to college students majoring in a horticultural related field.
Club membership does have its privileges. Members enjoy local garden tours offered after the general meetings, out-of-town trips at various times of the year to unique nurseries and gardens, opportunities to help work projects within the community, a seed and plant exchange table at our monthly meetings, and an informative monthly newsletter.
Please enjoy the year with us. We invite you to get involved, learn something new about gardening, and watch what happens when people work together. We, the members of the Grapevine Garden Club, endeavor to be positive, passionate, and proud of our accomplishments — past, present, and future.
