2019 Holiday Luncheon

Members and their guests are invited to the annual Christmas luncheon on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at the historic Lancaster Theater, 300 South Main, Grapevine.  Musical Entertainment will be provided by the Vanderveer Brothers, an old-time string band from the Fort Worth/Dallas area. The four brothers are recognized as a very entertaining and energetic old-time band with an impressive mix of driving fast tunes and moving slow songs. Their arrangements with dulcimer, banjo, and guitar reflect their love of old-time and Celtic traditional music while also adding their own special touch to each song.

Check-in and Social begins at 10:30.  Lunch is catered by  SCRATCH and served at 11 a.m. Price of the luncheon is $31/person. Register for the event and your menu choice  at the Garden Club October & November 2019 meetings or contact Robin Pond luncheoncoordinator@grapevinegardenclub.com

During the luncheon, cash donations are collected for our local Grapevine Relief and Community Exchange (GRACE) program.  In the past, members have donated more than $1,000 annually to GRACE, which the club president presents to a GRACE representative during the luncheon.

The GGC spring luncheons are held in May to celebrate the end of the garden club year, install new officers and award scholarships. In recent years the luncheons have taken place at the Trawick Pavilion on the shores of Grapevine Lake which accommodates over 100 members and guests to a themed salad and dessert extravaganza. Special guests include Grapevine city council members, PARD management and our scholarship awardees with their parents.

GGC Hosted Texas Garden Clubs Conventions: State convention held in Grapevine in April, 2012; District II convention at the home of GGC member Barb Munn, April 2017.

The Grapevine Garden Club hosted the Texas Garden Clubs State Convention on March 22-24, 2012 with a theme of Garden Party. Over 150 gardeners representing 79 garden clubs from ten districts across Texas attended the convention. Events were held at the Grapevine Convention Center and the Palace Arts Center. Friday afternoon, the Grapevine Garden Club hosted a garden party at the Botanical Gardens entitled, “Hats off to Texas Gardeners.” Over 125 guests attended the party and toured the gardens.

The highlight for our club was being given an award as the 2011 Texas Garden Club of the Year.

The Grapevine Garden Club continued its active involvement with the Texas Garden Clubs, hosting the District II Convention at the home of GGC member Barb Munn. On April 4th, 114 members from 21 District II garden clubs participated in the GGC-sponsored luncheon and convention.
